Day 22

Day 22, the fourth Sunday of Advent

We come to our final Sunday before Christmas. Four candles have been lighted:

The Prophecy Candle (Hope)
The Bethlehem Candle (Peace)
The Shepherds Candle (Joy)

And now we light the Angels Candle, also known as the Love Candle. The final candle is the Christ Candle, lighted on Christmas Day.  The Angels Candle calls to mind the glorious announcement that God came to us in human flesh to give the greatest gift of love. It is an excellent time to remember the verse from John 3:16:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

and to love as He has loved:

"I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
-- John 13:34-35
